It’s as fun to play as it is to watch, and if it’s not baseball season, you can make up for it by learning how to draw a baseball bat!

Getting a baseball that looks right can be harder than you think, but if you have a guide to follow, it can be a lot easier!

How to Draw A Baseball Bat

Step 1

In this first step of our guide to drawing a baseball bat, you can start with the basic shape of the bat.

In this step, you may use a light pen until you are happy with the shape. First, draw a small handle for the base of the handle.

Then you can draw a cylindrical shape that will form the racket’s handle. This then extends to the bat’s body.

This area of a baseball bat is called the barrel! It will then lengthen, culminating in the curved, rounded end of the mace.

Once you’re comfortable with how it examines, you can use the stylus to review the pencil if you’ve started with one. You can draw over the handle with the pen, and we’ll take care of the handle later!

Step 2

You can add some finishing lines to the bat’s grip at this part of your baseball bat design.

Using a ruler for this might be tempting, but while you can do it, it’s best to do it freehand if you can. If the handle has a slight curve, it looks like it has a leather handle.

Once you’re happy with how the handle looks, you’re ready for step 3!

Step 3

Now that you’ve outlined your bat, you can finish the rest of the grip in this step of our guide to drawing a baseball bat.

You can use the pencil to complete the end of the handle, the pommel.

Now that the entire baseball bat is drawn, you can start erasing the pencil lines from step one.

If you’ve drawn over your pencil with a pen, let the ink dry before erasing, as you don’t want to smudge the ink!

Step 4

We mentioned how the handle would look like it’s covered in leather, and we’re going to add that effect for this step of drawing your baseball bat.

To do this, draw a few horizontal lines along the handle. It’s a simple trick but very effective for adding a few extra details to your baseball bat.

Step 5

It’s time to add some final details in this step of our guide on how to draw a baseball bat. The main thing we’re going to do is add some curvy wood details to the barrel of the racquet.

To do this, you can add curved, sinuous lines to the racquet’s shaft. The reference image we provided shows you what it should look like.

Once you’ve added those wood details, feel free to add some details before proceeding!

Some ideas could draw your favorite baseball team’s logo or branding onto the bat. You could also draw a background and add an extra baseball kit, like a helmet or baseball.

Step 6

Now that you have your baseball bat ready, you can color it in for this final step of our baseball bat drawing guide!

For our sample image, we used gray for the racquet handle and brown for the barrel.

If you’re using brown for the barrel, you might want to use a darker shade on the bottom to show where there’s more shadow on the bat.

However, this is just one way to colorize this design, and you can let your imagination run wild!

Baseball bats can be any color imaginable, so you have a lot of freedom in coloring them.

Once you know what colors you will use, you’re also welcome to experiment with different artistic mediums.

You could use acrylic paint or crayons and markers for bolder colors, while watercolors and crayons would be great for more muted tones.
